Lors de ma visite à Minsk, je suis restée dans un appartement banal, sans particularité apparente. Pourtant, cette simplicité du quotidien m’a profondément touchée. Sur place, j’ai réalisé quelques croquis et pris des photos, captivée par la présence silencieuse de ce lieu vide.
De retour, j’ai décidé d’en faire une peinture. Ce qui m’intéressait, c’était à la fois le vide de cet appartement et le désir d’y introduire des objets, comme pour en raviver la mémoire et lui redonner une forme de vie.
During my visit to Minsk, I stayed in a very ordinary apartment — simple, with nothing remarkable at first glance. Yet, I was deeply drawn to the quietness and simplicity of that everyday space. While there, I made a few sketches and took some photographs, captivated by the stillness of the empty interior.
Back home, I decided to turn it into a painting. What interested me was both the emptiness of the apartment and my urge to fill it with objects — as if to reactivate its memory and bring it back to life.
